How on earth do you classify a storyboard, anyway, dA? |:

So! This is the final for my storyboarding class. Since I got to choose my own direction for this final, I decided to play with a scene that's been rolling around in my head since sometime last year.

To set this up: Dakkan is a young rookie soldier, on his first escort mission. The idea was to set up how real fighting sucks and blood makes him all woozy.

File info: Quicktime. Don't play it because each board is a frame and it won't make sense. Use the arrow keys to frame through it. Pretty soon I'll upload a version that has the frames actually timed, so you don't have to try and read my mind on the timing.

Also, I will include a better thumbnail when I get Photoshop reinstalled to my computer. :P

That was really neat, I liked the use of blurs to establish movement and distance and all that.

How long did it take you?
:iconfelldohthesquirrel:
That moved really fast. I couldn't see it! :O Is it just me???

You got to download it then use the arrow keys to move through each individual frame. =) Playing it doesn't work.

In the description I said: it's a storyboard! So while I will get a playable, timed version up eventually, you'll need to click on the video, then use the arrow keys to move from frame to frame. ;)

I figured that out. :XD:

It was really well made, and was actually kind of confusing to me at first. Because, I'm used to badgers=good guys and whatnot. :XD: Raccoons?! AWESOME.

3 weeks from concept to finish? This finals season has been kinda hectic and I couldn't tell you exactly without looking at calendars and trying to work stuff out, but that should be about right.

This is amazing. I love the movement and atmosphere conveyed in the story.

I guess we all know why you never draw Dakkan with a sword anymore, eh? :)

SPaG me.
:iconkobb:
Yeah, since Dak doesn't strictly exist in the Redwall world (though certainly I have put him there before) I took the liberty of choosing critters with natural "masks" to be the robbers. And badgers bring a bit of "big 'n' scary" to the table. (:<

I have to say, you know you've done well when somebody is excited and interested just watching the stills, that somebody being me. ;P John Lasseter said that he won't let anything go into production unless it's working perfectly in storyboards, so you're on the right track!

Not only that, I feel inspired to do something myself. I don't have any clue of a concept yet though, nor do I have formal teaching like you, but it's worth a shot, and could be fun! =P

Great work Kobb, I have been curious about the story since you told me on AIM. =) I'm happy to finally see it!
